How should I maintain my BioFire® FilmArray® System database?

Archiving Runs

For detailed instructions please see the BioFire FilmArray Operator’s Manual

  • The BioFire® FilmArray® Software database reliably stores up to 1,000 runs; however, it is recommended that no more than 500 runs are stored in the database.
  • Archiving runs on a regular basis will remove run files from the database and allow the data to be stored in a separate location.
  • When the number of runs in the BioFire Software database reaches 1,000, the message Storage Space Warning is displayed at the end of each run to alert the operator to archive runs from the database.
  1. In the Results table of the Browse Runs tab, highlight the runs to be removed from the database.
  2. Right-click to display the menu dialog.
  3. Select Archive Selected Runs from the menu.
  4. Navigate to the desired location, select a name for the file, then click Save.
  5. A progress dialog will display during the archive.
  6. When the process is complete, a final status message, Archive completed normally, will be displayed.
  7. Select Close to close the dialog box.

NOTE: It is not safe to abort the archiving process during the second step, while runs are being removed from the database. During this time, the software will not allow the user to exit out of the dialog.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to shut down the computer during the archiving process. Wait until the process is complete before shutting down the computer or performing other tasks.
