“What I love about my role first and foremost is the people. I am passionate about our products and the impact we have on physicians and patient outcomes,” says Andrea Kendell. In her role, Kendell leads the accounting, finance and inventory control teams in North America and manufacturing finance resources globally, and supports the business overall.
Kendell says she values people as the most powerful asset in an organization and enjoys the opportunity to mentor others and watch them grow and achieve their objectives. Her advice for those just starting out in their careers is to be confident, yet humble. “Don’t be afraid to say you don’t know, develop a strong work ethic, and most importantly, be curious,” she says.
But it all hasn’t been easy. “I would say the single largest obstacle is managing the balance between a family—being a role model to my daughters and a partner to my husband—and at the same time pursuing my career,” she says. “Finding a balance to all of that isn’t easy. It’s a challenge all the time. It’s a constant effort.”
Fortunately for Kendell, her career has been filled with opportunities to work with leaders who trusted, mentored, and pushed her to operate outside her comfort zone while growing a successful and dynamic business.
