BioFire is now bioMérieux: One Company. One Future. Endless Possibilities.

Bad bugs are constantly evolving—and so is the BioFire brand. BioFire was acquired in 2014 by bioMérieux SA, a global leader in in vitro diagnostics for more than 55 years. For several years BioFire continued to maintain its brand identity and operations.

“But we have now reached a critical point in our development where it makes sense to align more closely with bioMérieux,” explains Andrea Kendell, CFO North America & VP Finance Global Manufacturing for bioMérieux. “What this means, is that beginning in January 2022, BioFire products will be folded into the bioMérieux product portfolio. As a company, it will simply be known as bioMérieux.”

bioMérieux has a global presence and is recognized as a world leader in microbiology and infectious disease diagnostics. BioFire has been highly successful in the U.S. and is gaining momentum in many countries outside the U.S. In this context, formally combining the two product portfolios will offer a wider range of solutions and technologies to better help our customers provide expert advice regarding healthcare decisions.

With a wide range of products and services, including products under the BioFire brand, bioMérieux provides comprehensive diagnostic solutions that help improve patient health and ensure consumer safety. Integrating the BioFire product line into the bioMérieux portfolio provides our customers with comprehensive solutions to some of their most pressing issues, such as antimicrobial stewardship, efficiency, cost control, and delivering informed patient care.

The BioFire name has become the brand name for the bioMérieux Syndromic Testing product offering, with all the same products and panels you are used to. The BioFire name will remain on all BioFire instruments, panels, packaging, and promotional materials, but will now be under the bioMérieux corporate identity.

You may have already noticed some branding changes. For example, the biofiredx.com website is now proudly bioMérieux blue, instead of the BioFire red that you may be used to. Our social media accounts and trade show booths will also reflect these changes. Going forward, you’ll see a stronger human-centered focus in our promotional materials, reflecting our mission to improve public health worldwide

What does all of this mean for you? You will continue to receive world-class customer and technical support. Additionally, BioFire customers will have access to the bioMérieux ordering platforms. The biggest change is that you’ll need to learn how to pronounce bioMérieux! We’ve heard many ways to pronounce bioMérieux over the years. Our favorite suggestion is to pronounce it “bee-oh-merry-you.

We are excited about this transition, which will only enhance our ability to provide the highest-quality products and services to our customers. You will receive additional details about these changes in the coming months. We look forward to serving you as one bioMérieux team!
