Introducing the BioFire® Joint Infection (JI) Panel

Don’t miss the result that gets patients moving again. Newly granted an FDA De Novo authorization, the BioFire® Joint Infection (JI) Panel helps you identify pathogens fast.

BioFire® Joint Infection Panel

1 Test. 39 Targets. ~1 Hour.

Newly cleared under an FDA De Novo authorization, the BioFire JI Panel offers an improved diagnostic approach to joint infections. Instead of lengthy and laborious—and often inconclusive—send-out serial testing, the BioFire JI Panel provides fast, accurate, and comprehensive answers on 39 clinically relevant targets, including 31 causative pathogens and 8 antimicrobial resistance markers.

The Value of the Syndromic Approach

Traditional testing for joint infections often requires complex guesswork on the part of the clinician. Which pathogens are the most likely culprits? Which diagnostics should be ordered? This conventional process often requires multiple patient samples, serial send-out testing, and results that take days to arrive. On the other hand, the BioFire JI Panel tests for 39 clinically relevant targets from one 0.2mL synovial fluid sample, with results available in about an hour.

The BioFire JI Panel uses multiplex PCR technology to identify pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes at the molecular level. The BioFire JI Panel targets difficult-to-grow anaerobes and fastidious pathogens, and results are not impacted by prior antibiotic use. Compared to traditional testing, it may help facilitate increased diagnostic yield and improved polymicrobial detection.

Benefits of the BioFire JI Panel

Fast, accurate, and comprehensive testing with the BioFire JI Panel may offer several benefits. For example, CLIA-moderate complexity supports testing directly onsite. The test requires only a minimal sample to test for a broad menu of possible pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes, providing results in about an hour.

The Technology Behind our System

Multiplex PCR is the backbone of our syndromic approach to infection disease diagnostics.

The Syndromic Approach

Syndromic testing is a symptom-driven approach that targets multiple pathogens in one, rapid test.

Benefits of POC Testing

Patients have come to expect fast and convenient testing. But POC testing offers benefits to patients and clinics alike.
